The formalized parenting class experience.
July 26th, 2009 by spcummings

We spent the weekend at parenting class, wherein we learned how to breathe and how to belt babies into car seats. It occurred to me, at the mid-way point on Saturday, that I was having vague memories of Bill Cosby doing stand-up about the subject of chid birth, straight from 1983. We had a copy of the album. At 13 years of age, I listened to it often. Lo, at the end of class, we were treated to a viewing of that bit.

Don't shake a baby doll

I didn’t know what to expect, but I actually walked away feeling I learned a few things. I appreciate knowing how many diapers we’ll probably go through in three days (41, give or take). Or that baby powder is no longer recommended. Or that giving a child a pacifier could reduce SIDS significantly. We changed a few diapers on baby dolls. Cheri was a pro from years of having her own dolls growing up. I’ve changed a few adult briefs as part of a job I had years ago, so I’m hoping changing my own chid’s briefs will be less harrowing by comparison.
